New You

Living in today's generation I love eating Maggie, pasta, pizza and a lot of unhealthy stuff. In my place we don't have junk daily but, once in a week to break the boredom of the same old roti sabji. So, we may have sandwiches on a Sunday and pani puri  the next Sunday and dosa the next week the list never ends as our taste pallet can never be satisfied.

I live with with my parents and also my grandfather. Usually, grandparents are the ones who frown when our generation appetizes to these western food items. I have heard many people (even our parents) complain about the western food. The saddest part is many even don't taste it and complain how bad the western food tastes. I think there's only difference of some veggies in batata vada and a burger patties! The vada has only potatoes but the burger patties may have paneer, cauliflower, cabbage, peas and many more veggies.

But, I am happy my grandfather isn't one of those who loathes the western food! He rather enjoys having cheat meals with us every Sunday! In fact many times he himself brings in paneer for Frankie or bread for sandwiches. There are obviously some food items which don't fulfill his delicacies like pasta but, he doesn't restricts himself from tasting stuff. He won't frown looking at a dish and say "This doesn't seem tasty." He always eats and then let's his views out! He has changed his pallet with time. This makes him flexible and bridges the generation gap between us!

Speaking of change and flexibility I remember a book given to me by my teacher (Ashish Tattu Sir) 'Who Moved My Cheese' which carries a similar lesson. 'Change is the essence of life!' We even have Darwin's theory to explain that. Not every change is good but, not every change is bad. My grandfather relishes fast food 'once a week' and this change isn't bad definitely!

Change for a better version of yours and you'll love to be the 'new you'

  1. This breaks the opinion that the older generation doesn't know how to gel with the newer generation (of course there are limitations but still...) Absolutely light read and smooth. Thanks for the mention 😜 and yes, change is the only constant. :)
